Hello Therm O Web fans, Deb Zaleski with you today to share my newest project. If you love sewing bags and pouches, you know how important the right stabilizer is for achieving structure, durability, and a professional finish. Today, I’m excited to highlight a few small projects that combine creativity and practicality: a zipper pouch panel designed by Minki Kim for Riley Blake Designs, paired with NEW VersaFoam Stabilizers.
This charming panel makes it easy to create a stylish pouch with minimal cutting, while the VersaFoam Stabilizer adds the perfect amount of body and stability. The result is a pouch that holds its shape beautifully while remaining lightweight and easy to sew.
Whether you’re making a gift, organizing your sewing supplies, or simply enjoying a quick and satisfying project, this combination is a fantastic way to elevate your sewing experience.

It’s time to get creative, so gather your supplies and tools.

1. Begin by downloading the pattern instructions from the Riley Blake Designs website. Then, cut out all the pieces needed to make the first pouch. For the lining, I used HeatnBond Medium Weight Non-Woven Interfacing, and for the main body of the pouch, I used the NEW VersaFoam Sew-In Stabilizer. Cut a piece of foam stabilizer for the main body.

2. Use a quilter's ruler and water-soluble fabric marker to trace lines on the main body of the pouch for quilting.

3. When quilting my pieces, I like to use a walking foot and attached guide with a slightly longer stitch. I really like the texture I get when I use VersaFoam.

4. Apply the interfacing to the lining pieces.
5. Follow the instructions in the pattern to assemble the zipper pouch.

6. For fun, I've added a decorative button to the outside.
For this pouch I used VersaFoam Double-Sided Fusible Foam Stabilizer.
1. Cut the fabric pieces. Apply the main fabric to one side. Trim the foam so that the lining will fit more easily on the other side.

2. I used a different quilting pattern for the second pouch. Once again you can follow the instructions in the pattern.

For the last pouch, I wanted to add a little bling, so I quilted it using a diamond-shaped pattern. Before assembling it, I added Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive and waited for it to dry. Then, I used pink Deco Foil Transfer Foil at each stitch intersection. Simply press the foil down onto the tacky adhesive so it's completely covered.

Thanks for joining me in creating these fun zipper pouches. I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new. If you liked this project, please let me know by posting a comment. And don’t forget to stop by my Instagram and say HI!
