You're Fa-boo-lous Halloween Shaker Card with Deco Foil
Create an A2 sized card base from black cardstock. Also, create a black frame to hide the foam adhesive that will be used to make a shaker window pocket for the completed card.
Optional: Either make a funky background or use a piece of patterned paper for the background. Here, I used a piece of Halloween script paper for the background of this shaker card. The edges were inked using a sponge dauber, and black splatters were sprinkled throughout the panel to add more depth and contrast.
Next, use the Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets (Cobwebs and Cauldrons) with the Deco Foil Transfer Sheets (Gold Shattered Glass) to make a spooky Halloween-themed, foiled acetate window! Thermoweb has released new Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets for the Fall season and they are gorgeous! They make creating window shaker cards easy and fun! It ups the ante because now you can foil on acetate!
After the card base and window shaker pocket pieces have been created, it is time to fill the shaker window with a fabulous Halloween mix and finish the shaker portion of the card.
To keep all the edges of the shaker pocket cohesive with the card, I used Thermoweb’s black sticky strips (foam adhesive) instead of traditional white. The color black, all around the card, helps to keep the eerie feel going!
Once the shaker window pocket was completely put together, I added a “You’re Fa-Boo-Lous” sentiment over the top of a “Boo” word die-cut. The sentiment was inked with versamark and heat embossed using a fine detailed white embossing powder onto kraft cardstock. The sentiment was also broken up into two small strips to adhere over the “Boo” word die-cut.
To add the final touch, I used three ghosts from the Taylored Expressions sequin mix to place around the sentiment. Ghosts do go, “Boo!”.
I thought it would be different to create a Halloween-themed card for other occasions surrounding Halloween such as for someone’s birthday, as an encouragement card, and/or simply to tell someone how fabulous they are!
That’s a wrap (Hehe – that would have been a perfect pun for a mummy card)! You now have another way to create a Halloween-themed shaker card for many occasions. I hope you all have enjoyed this project today. A special thank you to Thermoweb for having me as a Guest Designer on their blog and another thank you to everyone else for joining in with us!
Have a beautiful day!
