Hello! Alison Heikkila here with my latest Therm O Web project. I love using layering stencils because of the different techniques you can do with them. I really like combining inks with Deco Foils, and I particularly enjoy using multiple foils with layering stencils. That's what we will be doing today. Plus, I'll show you how to crate a focal point, without hiding too much of our pretty foiled background.

Here are some of the products I used to make my card. I was inspired by that cute little mug I made with the Mug Friends Die Set from Spellbinders for my color palette.

I used a palette knife to spread the Transfer Gel Duo onto the first layer of the Snow Joy Stencil from Spellbinders. I applied the paste onto a piece of Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock. After the paste was applied, I quickly removed the stencil and washed it off, so that the paste wouldn't dry on it.

After the paste was clear, I applied Pink Melon Deco Foil from the Shades of Pink Collection and ran it through my laminator with a Carrier Sheet. Next, I laid the second stencil on top, applied more Transfer Gel Duo, and gave it time for it to turn clear. Then I used the gorgeous Sparkling Silver Fancy Foil from Therm O Web and Gina K Designs. This stencil set has very separated designs, but you can absolutely layer foils onto designs that overlap. I've done it several times and the results are always amazing.

I didn't want to cover up that shiny background, but I needed a "landing spot" for my mug, so that it wasn't just floating. I decided to grab the Essential Arches Die Set from Spellbinders and I used 2 of the dies to make a thin arch frame so that the mug would fit nicely inside, but my background would still be the star of the show. I used Pixie Tape, which is officially my favorite low-tack tape, to keep the dies together while running them through my die cut machine with my pink cardstock. I also chose my sentiment, from the July 2025 Stamp & Die of the Month from Spellbinders.

After that, I inked the edges of the cardstock with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide to bring in even more pink. I adhered my arched frame flat onto the background, then I used iCraft 3D Foam Squares for popping up the mug and sentiment. I adhered the panel to a white card base.

Just look at that shine! And we didn't hide too much of the background because we die cut a frame instead of a solid arch to go behind the mug, but it still gives your eye a place to rest.
