Hello Therm O Web fans, Deb Zaleski with you today to share my newest project. I’m over the moon with some new products I got to try out while sewing my version of the Nightingale Zipper Case by Center Street Quilts, and I also made a couple of Windowed Zipper Pockets, an in-the-hoop embroidery project by Sweet Pea Embroidery.
The Nightingale zipper case is a structured organizer that works well for storing sewing supplies, small projects, or even everyday items like toiletries or cords. It keeps everything contained and protected in one place.
The windowed zipper pouches are ideal for organizing smaller items, with a clear front that makes it easy to see what’s inside at a glance. They’re especially useful for sorting notions, embroidery supplies, or anything you want to keep separated and easy to find.
Together, they create a simple and efficient way to stay organized.

It’s time to get creative, so gather your supplies and tools!

For the Nightingale case, I modified mine by adding 3 inches to the width so I could store scissors and even include an extra pocket at the bottom. I won’t give away any trade secrets about the pattern, you’ll have to grab your own copy for that, but the key thing is that once you understand how it’s constructed, it’s easy to adapt and customize to suit your needs.
PeelnStick Basting Tape quickly became my new best friend for this project. It held everything exactly where I wanted it before stitching, especially around the zippers and windowed areas where pins are not always the best option.
It made the process feel smoother, cleaner, and a lot less fussy. Once the pieces were in place, I could sew with confidence instead of constantly stopping to adjust things. I didn’t need to use clips that would have gotten in my way at the sewing machine.
1. Prepare all the pieces needed to make the Zipper Case including the binding, clear vinyl and zippers. Use the Basting Tape to keep the binding in place over the vinyl then move to the sewing machine.

2. Use the Basting Tape to keep zippers in place on the binding. Once again move to the sewing machine. Much less intimidating when you don’t need to keep repositioning with pins and clips.

3. Once all the pieces are quilted and ready to have the straps applied, measure out exactly where you want them. Use the PeelnStick Basting Tape to keep the straps in place and reposition the straps as needed for perfect placement.

4. I used HeatnBond Lite Quilter’s Edge to finish off the binding of the Zipper Case. Even if I hand stitched the binding in place, it was nice to not have quilting clips in my way, but it would have made everything so easy to machine stitch the binding in place.

For the windowed zipper pockets, the only change I made was to the label on the front. The original label had “bobbins,” and I edited it directly on my embroidery machine to make it more generic with “stuff” and “things.” This way, they can be used for just about anything, even organizing everyday items.

1. Download the file and prepare your hoop with the Tear Away Stabilizer.

2. Follow the steps in the instructions and use Pixie Tape to keep the fabric pieces in place.

3. Use a short piece of Basting Tape at the opening to easily keep the edges together.

4. Hand stitch the opening closed.

5. Fill up the pockets with the little things you want to keep organized.
