Summer Kayak Scrapbook Layout with Foil Accents

by Jessica Michaels on July 14, 2026

Hi friends! Jessica here! 😊

Summer means beach trips, and this year I'm capturing ours in a pocket page mini album. This spread is all about a kayak adventure with my baby girl on Lake Ontario, and it gave me the perfect excuse to use foiling with my Fuse Laminator using the Doodlebug Summer Fun collection. Here's how I put it together!

Last year at our beach house, our rental came with kayaks, so I took my baby girl out on Lake Ontario near the end of our trip. She gave me the grumpy gills face but was clearly loving it, trailing her hand through the water on the way back and refusing to get out. I stuck close to the coastline since we were technically in a one-person kayak, but the mornings on Lake Ontario are so calm and peaceful I wish I'd started sooner and gone out every day. I wanted these two photos to have a strong focal point at the top of my spread, so I grabbed the Ray of Sunshine toner card front and ink blended it with yellow, orange, and blue to match the sun and sky.

While my Fuse Laminator heated up, I wiped down the toner surface of the card front with a tissue so the foil would apply smoothly. I sandwiched the card front and Gina K Wild Dandelion Fancy Foil between a Craft and Carrier sheet, foil pretty side up (silver metallic side facing my project), and ran it through on setting #3. Once that shimmery goodness came out, I matted it with a Doodlebug Summer Fun patterned paper since the card runs slightly smaller than my 6" pocket page width, then added machine stitching down the sides and used Easy Tear tape to secure the layers. A few embellishments turned this into my title piece.

The bottom pocket card holds my two kayak photos, which I turned into a photo strip and embellished around. Mixed Media Adhesive gave me a secure hold for the topper elements, and the Memory XL Tape Runner handled pretty much everything else — that thing fits in my hand perfectly. Popped both pocket cards into my summer beach mini album, and this spread is done!
