Stained Glass Butterfly Applique with Heat N Bond Lite

Fall Quilt Market is just a week away and we're looking forward to showcasing our entire booth and all the beautiful projects our team has created. Here's a peek at one of the beauties we'll be displaying in our booth that uses the new Moda Fabrics Manderly Fabric Collection along with our HeatnBond Lite and SpraynBond Basting Spray from Designer Jamie Mueller of Sunflower Quilts.sgheader Stained Glass Butterfly Applique with Heat N Bond Lite Project Supplies: 12- 1 ½” X 18” fabric strips 15” X 18” dark fabric piece (for stained glass outline) 1 yard Heat N Bond Lite 1 FQ Background fabric 1 FQ Backing fabric 22” X 22” piece of batting 2- 2 ½” X WOF (width of fabric) binding strips Heat N Bond® Lite Fusible Adhesive SpraynBond® Basting Spray Oliso Iron
Project Instructions: 1. Sewing along the 18” side, sew all 12- 1 ½” X 18” fabric strips together. Press seams OPEN. sg1 sg2 2. Fuse Heat N Bond® Lite to the WRONG side of the 15” X 18” Stained Glass dark fabric piece. sg3-5 3. On the Heat N Bond Lite, trace or freehand draw a butterfly shape with cutouts on wings. sg3 4. Cut out butterfly shape and all cutouts on wings. sg4 sg5 sg6< 5. Fuse butterfly shape on RIGHT side of the pieced block. sg7 6. With another piece of Heat N Bond® Lite, fuse on WRONG side of pieced butterfly block. Cut around outer edge of butterfly shape to have a complete butterfly shape. 7. Fuse butterfly shape onto background FQ fabric. sg8 8. Using SpraynBond® Basting Spray, make your quilt sandwich of backing fabric, batting and butterfly quilt top. sg9 9. Quilt as desired and bind to finish. sg10
