Howdy ya'll, it's Jamie Mueller of Sunflower Quilts back with another fun project. I made this cute Halloween Quilt just in time to decorate for Fall but this technique can be used for any design or holiday. If you have a fabric you love with a large motif, take this technique a make a different quilt. The possibilities are endless and remember, let the FABRIC do the WORK! Spooktacular HeatNBond Quilt Finished size: 66 ½” X 66 ½” header Supplies: *Fabric used: Spooktacular by Blend Fabrics 49-10” squares (24- FQ OR 12-1/3 yard cuts) 1 yard Jack-o-lantern fabric (enough to cut out 24-full Jack-o-lanterns) 1 yard Heat N Bond® Ultrahold 4 yards backing fabric ½ yard binding fabric
Directions: 1. If you’re not using precut 10” squares, cut 49-10” squares. 2. Fuse Heat N Bond® Ultra on the WRONG side of Jack-o-lantern fabric. [tooltip text="TooltipText"]*TIP: Let the fabric do the work! I was going to draw my own jack-o-lantern patterns until I saw how CUTE the Blend Fabrics jack-o-lanterns were. It saved so much time just fusing Heat N Bond onto the actual fabric. Say it with me, “Let the fabric do the work!”.[/tooltip] 1 *Please excuse how dirty my Oliso Pro Iron is; I use it everyday and HIGHLY recommend it! 3. Cut out 24- Jack-o-lanterns using sharp small scissors. 2 4. Following package instructions, fuse jack-o-lanterns onto 24-10” squares. 3 5. Using a small zig-zag stitch and matching thread to jack-o-lanterns, stitch around entire jack-o-lanterns for all 24 blocks. [tooltip text="TooltipText"]*TIP: use a monofilament thread (clear) like I did if you do not want to see your appliqué stitches.[/tooltip] 4 6. Layout blocks 7 rows x 7 blocks as desired. 6 7. Sew blocks together until quilt top is completed. 7 8. Quilt and bind as desired. Enjoy your fun new quilt and remember to use this appliqué technique to let the FABRIC do the WORK for your next quilt project!
