Springtime in my neck of the woods means lots of rain showers. I wanted to use the beautiful palette of blues and purples in the Camelot Fabrics "Kaleidoscope" collection to create a fun spring ready outfit for my daughter made with the new HeatnBond® Soft Stretch Fusible Adhesive. It's perfect for fabrics with stretch as it offers the same top quality you already know and love but now with the perfect amount of give. Join me today as I walk you through how to sew this fun spring skirt and top with some fun touches of Deco Foil™! Sew a Sweet Spring Outfit with HeatnBond Soft Stretch

Spring Outfit Instructions:
I began by making a simple strip skirt from fat quarters from a tutorial I found HERE to make my panels from fat quarters. My fabric wedges were about 3" at the tapered end and 7" on the wide end. They were about 20" long. I wanted the skirt to be extra long, but you could easily trim it to the length you want. IMG_2913 Next, I sewed each panel together and did a zig zag stitch on the edges to prevent fraying. Then I simply folded over the top edge first by 1/2" and then again by another 1" to create a tube to thread my elastic through for the waistband. Instead of a drawstring as used in the above tutorial, I just opted for the simple elastic waist. For the bottom edge of the skirt, I used a long fabric strip, basted it with a long stitch, and pulled the thread until it ruffled. I added the ruffle to the bottom and again zig zag stitched the raw edges. camelot skirt 1 For the top, I started by ironing some HeatnBond® Soft Stretch Fusible Adhesive in Lite to the wrong side of some of the fabric scraps. I drew a cloud shape and some raindrop shapes as well. IMG_2915 I then arranged my pieces on a white, long sleeve t-shirt and when I was satisfied with my design, I removed the paper backing and ironed the piece on. IMG_2918   For a few of the raindrops, instead of using fabric, I used some Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive and ironed it on. Then I covered the raindrops with Iridescent DecoFoil to make the raindrops sparkle!
