Hello, it's Stephanie from Sissy Belle Sews. Today I am so happy to share all the details for this sweet quilted apron made from scraps of vintage sheets! Spring has finally sprung in Indiana, and I couldn't be happier. To celebrate, I picked out my favorite vintage sheets in spring colors to make this scrappy apron. I quilted it using ThermOWeb's new wide-width Stitch n Sew fleece as the batting. Stitch n Sew fleece is made of 100% polyester. Quilting fabrics are 100% cotton, but vintage sheets are usually 50% polyester, which means they won't shrink. I thought the polyester fleece along with the polyester sheets would be the perfect combination, and I knew I wouldn't have to worry about shrinkage. The fleece is lightweight enough to wear comfortably, and it quilts up very nicely as well. My vintage sheets were also worn just enough to be super soft, so this apron is a dream to wear. And the best part is, it's reversible! The backside is a solid piece of sheet, and the front is a pretty scrappy patchwork. It's like two for the price of one. Follow along and I'll tell you how I made this pretty little apron. It will make the perfect mother's day gift for my mom, and I'll bet whoever you make yours for will love it as well!

Apron Supplies Needed

• Scraps of vintage sheets
• 1 yard of Stitch n Sew High Loft Sew-in-Fleece
• Spray n Bond basting spray
• Your favorite apron pattern
  • Disclaimer: I didn't have a pattern. I used an apron I already had, traced it, and used that as my pattern!

Quilted Apron Sewing Instructions

• Using scraps of vintage sheets in various sizes, create a scrappy patchwork panel large enough to be the front of your apron.

• Make a quilt sandwich with your patchwork front, fleece, and a large piece of a sheet for the back.
• Secure the layers of your quilt sandwich with basting spray.

• Quilt your apron. The picture below shows the quilting. I did a free motion design with my Janome machine.

• Cut out your apron using your pattern or an apron you already have, which is what I did!
• Bind your apron like you would a quilt. Attach a neck strap and ties.

• NOTE: The picture below shows the thickness of the fleece. It's the perfect wearable weight.

• Enjoy your apron! Wear it, gift it, make two or three...
