The holidays are here! Crazy, right?! If you are the crafty type you're probably already brainstorming handmade gift ideas. Today I am here to share a quick mug cozy project featuring Therm o Web's Deco Foil™! I LOVE this foil for holiday projects!
Project Supplies:
Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets color of choice. I used gold.
Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive
Heat n Bond® Fusible Fleece
Spray n Bond® Basting Adhesive
Pattern to trace for your design OR you can do what I did and use a die cut machine for the word 'MERRY'.
Fabrics
Thread
Scissors
Pen to trace pattern
Sewing machine
Pattern for cup cozy. (I traced around a cardboard cup holder for my pattern)
Hook and Loop Tape
Iron the 'rough' side of your HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece to one of your cozy pieces. I trimmed the fleece a tad smaller around the edges to make turning/topstitching a little easier.
Sew wrong sides together. Leave a 2" opening for turning the cozy. Press cozy with iron then top stitch.
Place your design that you cut out with your Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive on your cozy in the desired position. Iron to the active adhesive. Once it cools a bit, peel off the paper backing. You'll be left with a thin shiny layer of adhesive.
Cut a piece of Deco Foil™ for your design, just slightly larger than your adhesive design. Set your foil over the adhesive and iron.
I decided to try a hot setting on my iron and I also lifted it before it was completely cool. I wanted to try for a distressed look to match the dots on the mug a bit.. it worked like a charm! Love the finished look! Give it a try!
To finish up, sew two 1/2" wide strips of hook and loop tape on to the edges of the cozy to secure it around your favorite mug!
Hope you enjoyed my project! Until next time!
