Pucker Up Mini Quilt with Heat N Bond Fabric Adhesive

by Designer on February 09, 2016
Hello everyone! This is Audrey Yeager and I want to share this cute little wall hanging that you can create to help decorate for Valentine's Day. It's super simple to do with Heat N Bond® Lite Iron-On Adhesive.

Instructions: I began by finding the perfect "lips" cut file from the Just Nick store and arranged them to be cut at about 7" long. To cut fabric on an electronic die cutting machine, you must first stabilize it with Heat N Bond® Lite on the wrong side of the fabric. (NOTE: If this mini quilt is going to be washed or handled a lot, you may want to use Heat N Bond Ultra Hold.) I cut rectangles slightly bigger than my cut files and ironed Heat N Bond® to the wrong side.

Peel the paper from the back of the Heat N Bond® Fabric Adhesive and place on your sticky cutting mat fabric side UP (Heat N Bond side DOWN). Another product you can use would be the HeatnBond EZ Print Sheets. These are precut 8 1/2 by 11 sheets you can cut or print directly on. Cut your design with a fabric blade at a slow speed and a higher depth.

Once the design is cut, carefully peel the negative pieces from the mat, and then your shapes for the project.

Cut squares of solid colored fabric (mine are 8.5") and fold in half both ways to find the center. Center your cut design and iron with a dry iron at med-high heat. Be sure to flip the design over and iron from the back, too.

Once all squares are ironed, sew them together to make your mini quilt! Baste (I used Spray N Bond® Basting Adhesive), quilt with your desired design, and add the binding! For my quilting, you will notice that I quilted around my shapes to make them stand our more against the background.
