I have a collection of cast iron skillets that have been passed down to me from my mother (who got them from her mother) and not only are they precious to me but I use them DAILY. When we built our house, I designed a deep, very heavy duty drawer in my kitchen just for my cast iron. So I was excited to know about these pan protectors!
After reading about them I decided to use some of my favorite Thermoweb products and make some. I'm not exaggerating to say that this is one of the fastest sewing projects I've ever done that yielded rewarding results! Another thing that was really fun was using "cheater fabric" that I had in my stash. This is fabric that looks like a pieced quilt block when it is actually just the design on the fabric. I was able to do a little machine quilting as if I had pieced the block!
You can download my tutorial here and make some for yourself. It's FAST... I made six in about an hour! You will love them. I also think these would make a great house warming gift!
I want to hear from you when you make them!
