Mixed Media Halloween Canvas

by Lisa Bzibziak on October 10, 2024
Hello! Today I have a mixed media canvas for you with a Halloween theme... you know how I love to make these and it's extra fun with Therm O Web Deco Foil for lots of added sparkle and shine. I started by painting the canvas black with acrylic paint. Then I splattered on some Distress Oxide sprays in pink and orange and topped it off with some Glitter Dust Spray. When it was dry, I stenciled on some Transfer Gel Duo using that cool spider stencil from Miss Ink Stamps. I set it aside for a couple hours to dry and while it was still tacky, I added Deco Foil over the top. I used pewter from the Shades of Silver Color Harmony pack. I added some Dazzling Orange foil to a lacy toner card front and then cut a large pumpkin from it. I added more color with some Distress Oxide and then wiped it with a soft cloth to take the extra ink off of the shiny foil. I popped the pumpkin onto the canvas and added flowers cut from foiled gel prints. Gel prints made with acrylic paint will take some foil, but to ensure more foil, I like to spray my gel print with Glitter Dust Spray and let it dry and then apply the foil with the heat of my Fuse. I foiled another card front... and then used the negative with a poly glaze sheet.... And die cut this shoe! I added some pink to the white areas. I cut a witches have from a gel print and used Neon Green transfer flock for the band around the hat... part of my shoe and leaves. I cut additional flowers from a gel print foiled with black and then added gems for the centers of the flowers and scattered a bit on the canvas. I used Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive to attach anything I wasn't popping up and even added some when using pop up tape to be sure it sticks for a long time since it will be hanging on a wall. The Liquid Adhesive gives me some time to be able to move my pieces while it dries, but once it's dry it really holds. I even added a little feather in the witch's hat! And a little sentiment at the bottom. That's me for today! Thanks so much for stopping and I hope you'll come again soon!
