Hello crafty friends! Lauren here, bringing you a fun tutorial for mixing foils on a background. It reminds me of splattering different colors of paint on a canvas, but with foil!
1) Starting out, I secured my stencil to cardstock with Pixie tape, and scraped an even layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo through. Remember to clean your stencil as soon as you can!
2) Allow the gel to fully dry. You'll know it's dry when it turns completely transparent (it will still be tacky to the touch).
3) Choose at least two colors of Deco Foil. For the card with the leaves, I chose three: Green, Jade, Gold Sparkle, and Spring Green. For the snowflakes, I chose Silver, Icy Silver, Ice Blue and Royal Blue.
3) Quickly and gently tap a piece of foil (color side facing up) onto the stenciled areas. You do not want to press hard or burnish with your finger at this point, because you do NOT want full coverage. You want the foil to look patchy.
**TIP: I find it easier to work with one small piece of foil at a time. Since the Duo gel is tacky, if I work with a large piece of foil, sometimes it flaps around and gets stuck on other areas! With a small square, it is much easier to control what the foil is touching.
4) Once you have a good amount of random patches from the first color, take a small piece of another color and apply it to other areas around your stenciled designs. Repeat this process as many times as you want until the stenciled designs are fully covered. You want all of the stenciled gel to be completely covered with foil in the end.
5) OPTIONAL STEP: For the final step, I ran the whole piece through my Fuse Foil machine with a single piece of foil covering the whole page on setting 1. I did this to ensure that every little bit of sticky gel was completely covered. I didn't want any sticky gel to be left uncovered! If you do not have a foiling machine, you can also run it through a die cutting machine, or skip this step entirely.
For the leaf pattern, I used a sheet of Green Deco Foil, and for the snowflakes I used a sheet of Silver Deco Foil.
6) I added sentiments and decorations with coordinating foil colors and gave the elements some dimension with foam squares.
