Make a Coffee Shop Cup Sleeve with HeatNBond Fleece

There is nothing better than gathering at our local coffee shop with friends on a Saturday morning. The only thing to make it better is a new coffee cup sleeve for those paper cups. Hi everyone, Carla here from Creatin' in the Sticks and I am excited to be on the Thermoweb blog today with a new tutorial. Let's make a Coffee Shop Cup Sleeve with HeatNBond Fleece. It will protect your hand from a hot cup and is super cute too.

Coffee Shop Cup Fabric Sleeve

Fits most paper coffee shop cups by Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks Please read through all instructions before starting. All seams are stitched at ¼” unless otherwise stated.

Supplies:

Coffee Shop Cup Fabric Sleeve pattern - Coffee Shop Fabric Sleeve Pattern for Thermoweb by Carla at Creatin in the Sticks HeatnBond Fleece Fusible High Loft

Fabric:

1 fat quarter cotton

Other Supplies:

24” of ½” Ric Rac, Aurifil Thread 50 wt. #2692 Inkjet printer, Iron, Sewing machine, Sharp scissors, Chopstick, and other basic sewing supplies

Instructions:

Step 1: Cutting

Cut 2 of the pattern from the fabric and cut 2 from the HeatNBond Fusible Fleece. The fusible fleece pieces are shorter and need to be cut according to the lines on the pattern.

Step 2: Bond the HeatNBond Fleece

Bond the two HeatnBond Fleece Fusible to the wrong sides of the fabric pieces following the manufacturer’s instructions. Set one aside fleece-backed pieces aside for the back.

Step 3: Ric Rac

Stitch the Ric Rac to the top and bottom of one of the fleece-backed fabric pieces. Place the Ric Rac on the edge of the fabric on the right side and stitch 1/8” from the edge.

Step 4: Finish

Pin the two pieces right sides together and stitch ¼” seams at the top and bottom.

Clip the seams up to the stitching with scissors and turn right side out. Use a chopstick to push the sides out and press. Topstitch close to the edge around all 4 sides of the sleeve including the raw edge ends. Next, pin the ends together wrong sides together and stitch ¼” from raw edges. Trim the seam allowances to 1/8”.

After the seam allowances are trimmed, turn the sleeve wrong side out and pin the seam tucking the raw edges in the seam and matching Ric Rac edges and topstitching.
