There is something extra special about creating handmade gift packaging, especially when you can personalize it for each recipient. For this project, I created a collection of fun and colorful little gift bags using Toner Card Fronts, Foils and soft Plush Paper.
I wanted each bag to have its own little fairy tale character, so I combined different bright colors, die-cut elements, dimension, and personalized tags. The Toner Card Fronts made it so easy to add an enchanting foiled touch to the project!
For the first step, I chose four beautiful colors of Therm O Web foil: Prince Periwinkle, Peach Princess, Enchanted Rose and Glass Slipper.
I applied the different foils to my Toner Card Fronts (Artsy Prints, Groovy, Mod Dots, STARS & STRIPES) creating a wonderful mix of colors and shimmering patterns. I love how quickly the toner designs transform once the foil is added—the shine really makes the patterns come to life!
I used several different Toner Card Front designs because I wanted each gift bag to look a little different. The combination of the colorful foil and the printed toner patterns gave me a great starting point for my project.
Once my Toner Card Fronts were foiled, I used my die-cutting machine and dies to cut out different shapes and decorative elements.
This is such a fun way to use Toner Card Fronts because you don't have to use the entire sheet at once. You can cut out individual elements throughout your project.
I even saved the scraps for another part of the project!
Next, I added color to some of the white Toner Card Front pieces. This allowed me to customize the pieces even further and coordinate them with the colors of my gift bags.
I really enjoy this part because you can completely change the look of the same Toner Card design simply by adding different colors.
The combination of the foil, color, and pattern created lots of visual interest.
With all my pieces prepared, it was time to assemble the gift bags.
For the construction of the bags, I used Clear AdhesiveandSuperTape Roll. The Red iCraft SuperTape is especially handy when you need a strong adhesive for the parts that need to hold the bag securely together, while the liquid glue was perfect for attaching many of the foiled panels.
Once the basic bags were assembled, I could start having fun decorating them. I created little scenes on the front of each bag, adding my die-cut pieces and characters to make every bag unique.
For some of the smaller elements, I used liquid glue, while the 3D Foam Tape was perfect for adding dimension to certain pieces. I love how a little bit of extra height can make the decorations pop right off the front of the bag!
One of my favorite parts of this project was finding a use for the leftover pieces of Toner Card Fronts.
Instead of throwing away the scraps, I turned them into small personalized tags for the gift bags. I added a little piece of plush paper on a piece of Deco Foil Foam Adhesive Sheets to create a soft, dimensional detail on each tag.
The plushed letters are the first letter of the recipient's name to the tag. It's such a simple detail, but it makes each little gift bag feel much more special and personal.
I also love the contrast between the shiny foil and the soft texture of the Flock. The combination of textures makes these tiny tags really stand out.
And here are the finished gift bags!
I had so much fun giving each one its own personality. The different foil colors, patterned designs, characters and little scenes make them all unique.
The Peach Princess and Enchanted Rose foils give these bags a warm, playful look, while the colorful mice add cuteness and dimension. I especially love how the little characters become part of their own tiny scenes.
The Prince Periwinkle and Glass Slipper foils add a beautiful cool shimmer to the other designs.
And the best part? Even the leftover Toner Card Front pieces found a purpose as personalized tags! The perfect finishing touch. Adding just one initial turns a cute handmade gift bag into something made especially for someone.
Handmade packaging doesn't have to be complicated. With a few beautiful Toner Card Fronts, some creative die-cutting, and a little Therm-O-Web sparkle, you can turn a simple gift bag into a special part of the gift itself.
