Pin the flannel to the sweater fabric, right sides together. Then trim the knit to the same size as the flannel. It is easier to pin first and then cut because the fabric is so stretchy and doesn't hold its shape well.
Sew along both long edges and then turn the piece right side out.
Fold the piece in half so that both short ends of the flannel touch. Clip the flannel edges together.
This part is slightly tricky. Starting on the top edge pull the two knit edges together and sew a seam down along the two flannel pieces. Once you are at the bottom of the flannel manipulate the bottom edges of the knit to sew a few inches into the knit as well. When you have pulled it off the machine it should look like this.
The last step is to close the opening. Pull one side of the knit over the flannel seam beneath. Then fold the other edge of the knit under and pin it closed.
Sew this last seam closed. Be careful not to sew through both sides of the face warmer.
Now you have a reversible face warmer for the whole family!
Thanks for letting me share this fun tutorial with you. I hope it helps keep your face warm this winter.
