Teaming up with other Thermoweb designers for the Fruit Quilt Block Sew Along has been so much fun! Each fruit block has been exciting to make and now it’s time to put them all together into a fruity decor project. Carla here from Creatin’ in the Sticks and I’m excited to show off my new table runner.

Fruity Table Runner

Supplies:

4 – quilt blocks from the Thermoweb Fruit Quilt Block series - Watermelon Slice, Pink Lemonade, Sweet Cherries, and Apples StitchNSew Sew-In High Loft Fleece SpraynBond® Basting Adhesive Spray Aurifil 50 wt. thread (#2024 and #2692) Backing fabric - 42" x 14" Windham Fabrics Binding fabric (1 fat quarter), 20 - 2 1/2" squares

Fruit Quilt Instructions:

First, stitch the 20 - 2 1/2" fabric squares together in 4 sets of 5 with 1/4″ seams. Sew the strips to the top of 2 quilt blocks and the bottom of the other 2 quilt blocks. Second, stitch the quilt blocks together with 1/4" seams. The next step is to cut the fleece. Measure the size of the backing fabric or just lay it on the fleece and cut it out. Now, baste the wrong side of the backing fabric to the fleece with SpraynBond® basting adhesive. Smooth out the backing fabric by moving a hand across it. Next, baste the quilt top right side up to the fleece. Place the quilt top on the fleece, fold one side over and spray the back. Fold the top back in place and smooth. Repeat this step with the other side of the quilt top. Finally, quilt the table runner as desired with Aurifil 50 wt. thread (#2024) and apply binding with a preferred method. Doesn't the fruit make your mouth water? Just look how the runner brightens up those old logs. You must make these quilt blocks. I can just see a super cute quilt in my future.
