Valentine Scrapbook Layout Details

As soon as I saw the conversation hearts stencil for this paper collection, I KNEW I wanted to use it with the flock! The stencil also comes with a die to cut the hearts out, so bonus! I started by adhering my stencil with Pixie Spray to my paper and inking several hearts in different colors. As you can see, there is a solid heart and then the other heart shapes are to layer over the inked (or flocked) hearts. Once my hearts were inked, I used the Duo Transfer Gel to apply the patterns over the top of the hearts. The stencil area that looks like an upside-down V is a shadow, you can see it in the blue heart I did. The other partial C-looking area, I am not sure what it was for and didn't use it! Once my hearts were covered with Duo Gel, I sat them aside to dry, while I worked on some die-cut hearts to use as embellishments. Next up, I pulled out my Deco Foil Foam Adhesive and also the iCraft Easy Cut Adhesive Sheets. I attached one side of these different adhesive sheets to cardstock, to make them easier to flock and die cut. I then cut out several different hearts. I also used some heart dies from Elle's Studio that was big enough, but smaller, to work with the "hugs" stencil saying.

Flocking The Hearts

After die-cutting the hearts from the adhesive sheet/cardstock combo, I peeled off the protective adhesive covering and laid the sticky side down on different colors of flock. Then I ran thru my die cutting machine to apply pressure to transfer the flock to the hearts. Once I had the die-cut hearts flocked, it was time to stencil them with patterns and sayings. I tested ink colors on scrap pieces of the flock to find ones that would work with each color. After I had the colors picked out it was easy to stencil the die cut with the saying I wanted. [tooltip text="TooltipText"] Tip here, you can lightly spray your die cut with Pixie Spray to hold it in place![/tooltip] For the inked hearts, once the Duo Gel was dried, I picked out colors that would work with the ink colors to flock with. My white flock did not show up like I had planned, it was more of a tone-on-tone look, but I was ok with that! You can see the look below on these hearts holding the banner. Using my trusty Memory Runner XL tape runner, I adhered my layers of paper together. I love that it's small and refillable! And here's a tip for you about that scattering of hearts and how I did it. First, I arranged the hearts until I liked how they looked. I then took a picture that I could reference back to when I was actually attaching to my layout. I attached the hearts with Foam Tape and Foam Squares. Pretty close to my "trial run" right?! I made a few adjustments, since everything else I had attached after taking the picture! And last, but not least, I added my journaling using a pink gel pen and popped it up with some small 3D Foam Squares. And that was my final step! That's all I have for you today!!! I hope you enjoyed my flocked conversation hearts. I definitely had a lot of fun making this! Make it a crafty week! This post contains affiliate links. For more information, see our disclosure HERE.
