Firework Birthday Shaker Cards by Jessica Michaels Hello everyone! Jessica here with some birthday cards today featuring Gina K Designs Fancy Foils and Deco Foil Transfer Gel duo! I needed some fun birthday cards for July Birthdays so I created these fun shaker cards! Therm O Web Supplies Used Memory Runner XL Memory Runner XL Refill UltraBond Liquid Adhesive, 2fl oz Craft & Carrier Sheets Easy Tear Tape 1/4” Easy Tear Tape ½” Gina K Designs Shaker Strips Deco Foil Duo Transfer Gel Gina K Designs Fancy Foils, Sparkling Silver Pixie Tape Stencil Pal, 2pk Deco Foil Toner Card Fronts, Design Haven Other Supplies Used Echo Park A Slice of Summer Patterned Papers Smooth White Cardstock by Park Lane Distress Oxides in Lumberjack Plaid and Uncharted Mariner Black Archival Ink Magical Fireworks Stencil by Simple Stories Laminator Sequins from {Not} Just for Boys Kit Club OLFA 12x17 Folding Cutting Mat Cushion Grip Art Knife OLFA Frosted Acrylic Ruler Clear Acetate Sheets I started this layout by pulling out a sheet of textured smooth white cardstock by Park Lane and cutting two card bases that measured 5.5”x8.5”, then folded in half. I cut some patterned papers from the Echo Park A Slice of Summer collection down to 4”x5.25” to mat inside my card and on the outside frame. I grabbed my OLFA cutting mat and blade and cut a “frame” for both of the card fronts out of the blue patterned paper, leaving enough paper there to cover up my shaker strips I will place beneath to make the shaker pocket. I grabbed one of the Design Haven toner card fronts and blended on a red and blue shade of distress oxides for a red white and blue effect with my blending brush. I left the center white. You may want to rub with a paper towel afterwards to get any ink off the toner portions of the card front for a nice foil transfer. I then ran it through my hot laminator sandwiched between a craft and carrier sheet, with a sheet of Gina K Fancy Foils in Sparkling Silver on top of the card front. This will be the inside of one of my shaker pockets. For my other shaker card, I cut a piece of white cardstock the same size as the toner card fronts, and used a Simple Stories stencil called Magical Fireworks along with the Deco Foil Transfer gel Duo. I adhered some pixie tape around my stencil to hold everything down to my glass media mat while working and then I used a small spatula to apply some product to my stencil pal. Using the Stencil Pal to apply the duo gel across the paper creates a nice smooth finish. While that was drying, I worked on my other card since it was out of my laminator. Once this one dried, I ran it through my laminator with the same Sparkling Silver foil and then ink blended this one as well. I also splattered some water over both of them for a marbled effect. I assembled my shaker cards using easy tear tape to hold the clear acetate in place to the frame, and then adding my shaker strips all around the outside. I then dumped in a bunch of sequins from Not Just for Boys Kit Club and then placed my card fronts on top, being careful to line it up as I pressed it down. I stamped the backside of my cards with a fun stamp from my stash and some Black Archival Ink. Lastly, I added some stamping to the inside with various stamps from my stash and stamped and fussy cut a phrase for the front. This made for the perfect quick and easy birthday cards!
