This quilt was made with Blend Fabrics, the collection is called Affinity. I was provided these fabrics to work with and wanted to highlight the focal prints in the collection, one including a peacock and one including trees. I decided to make a disappearing 9 patch quilt, a classic quilt pattern, with these fabrics, as it would allow me to keep the focal prints in big squares and cut the smaller scale fabrics up to give it a patchwork look. It ended up working out well, I was able to fussy cut all the trees and peacocks so they were centered in the big blocks and the layout I chose created these great pinwheels- which I really like. I quilted feathers in all the pinwheels and leaves in all the small squares, feathers for the peacocks and leaves for the trees. I wanted to highlight those details as the prints I quilted the designs on are busy and it makes the quilting hard to see.

In the third photo you see how the block was cut so the focal prints are left untouched and the smaller scale prints get cut up. I got out my iCraft Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive and carefully put a thin bead of the glue along my stitches in the free motion quilting designs I was trying to enhance. In both the leaf and the feather I decided to just do the spines and a little bit of the veins- but not the outer edges of the design, as I didn't want the quilting to compete with the fabrics too much.
After I had a very thin bead of glue on top of the stitching I went back with an Q-Tip and smoothed the glue down flatter so my stitches wouldn't just disappear under the glue. I left it to dry overnight and then foiled the next morning.
I laid the Deco Foil Transfer Sheet on top of the glued areas and gently rubbed until the foil had transferred. I ended up getting just that little touch of sparkle that I was after and am very pleased with the results. I will be using this trick again in the future for sure!
