Today, I am sharing my first layout for the Therm O Web design team. I am super excited to show you different ways to use Foiling on your layouts! I found this inspiration from my Pinterest board, Layout Inspiration and it is from Rachel O’Neal. This background has got me singing all sorts of words! I started out with using Distress Oxides four different colors, Abandon Coral, Dried Marigold, Tumble Glass and Worn Lipstick, I got to work and here are the following steps:
Start with looking at the Layout Inspiration from Rachel O’Neal, there are strips of ink pads running down the page and I started with the Distress Oxides in the four different colors, I sprayed them with water to get that water effect. This is just to add a 2D effect to the ink strips.
I used the Deco Foil, Transfer Gel Duo on a stencil of hearts. I put the gel between two of the colors. Here is going to be a really cool part of this background, I took bubble wrap and placed the gel on it, dabbed certain spots to make my background different. Now the key part with gel duo, you have to let it completely dry before you place the deco foiling on it and run it through your laminating machine, in this case, I use the Cricut Easy Press for me to transfer the foil to my background.
Once the Gel Duo is dried, I placed different shades of Red and Aqua from the Color Harmony Collections to rub the foil on the gel. Remember, when you are using the Lamination Machine or like for me, Easy Press, you need to make sure to use the deco foil Craft & Carrier Sheets for protection of the heat. Then I ran it in my Easy Press to transfer the foil onto my background.
Once the foil peels off, I was ready to start using the diecuts and such to finish the layout. The collection I am using today is called Simple Stories, Pink Lemonade. My daughter and her bestie, Cam, had to have their first Smores for the summer. Every Memorial Day, my family always has friends over and we have to have Smores, hence why I called this blog, “Eating Smores Into the Summer”. I wanted to make sure I incorporated the foil into my clusters on this page.
I used the first pink section with the foiling as my main title section, Love Life Smile. I wanted to embellish each cluster with either butterflies, hearts or flowers. Before I used the Distress Spritz, Antique Linen for splatters, I took the smallest glossy enamel dots and placed them all over the background. Then lastly, I used the Antique Linen for my goldness on my page.
