Easter is just a few weeks away, so there is plenty of time to add these adorable easy-sew fabric carrots to your spring decor or table settings. All you need is some favorite fabric, Therm O Web Stitchn'Sew fleece, and a few basic supplies, and you'll have a whole bowl full of fabric fun in no time at all.
To begin, gather your supplies. Download a free carrot template from the internet, or hand-draw your own pattern, like I've done here. To make mine, I simply folded a piece of plain copy paper in half and drew a triangle with rounded corners. My pattern is about 6" tall by 3" wide, but you can make yours any size you wish. Once you have your pattern, fold your printed carrot fabric in half, with right sides facing, and pin the template to the fabric. Trim out the pattern to create two carrot shapes. Repeat this process with the Stitchn'Sew fleece to cut two fleece shapes.
Stack the printed fabric shapes together, with right sides facing. Place one fleece piece on top of the fabric shapes, and one underneath.
Starting on one side, stitch down the length of the carrot, around the small corner, and back up the other side, using a 1/4" seam allowance. stop at the top corner, leaving the wide end of the carrot open.
Turn the carrot right side out.
Using a needle and thread, stitch a loose running stitch around the open end of the carrot, and pull lightly on the thread to begin to gather the top end closed. Stuff the carrot with polyfill fiber stuffing, and place pine stems into the opening. (If you don't have pine stems, try using green pipe cleaners, torn fabric strips, or raffia instead). Pull the thread tightly around the pine stems and knot the thread off to completely close the top opening.
Stamp a label image onto white Therm O Web premium cardstock, and punch out the label using a scalloped circle punch. Punch a small hole in the top of the labels, and tie them to the top of the carrots using torn strips of green fabric. Trim the ends of the fabric bows, as needed.
