Hello friends! It's Juliana from 17turtles here with you today to share a set of get well cards I created as part of Therm O Web's team up with Art Impressions. No one likes to be sick or not feel well, so what better way is there to brighten their day than with some doggie kisses?! To create this set of cards, I combined some of my favorite Therm O Web adhesives (Memory Tape Runner XL and iCraft Easy-Tear Tape) and the Doggie Kisses stamp set from Art Impressions.

Get Well Cards

I used the same basic template for each card to help keep the design simple and easy to repeat. This is always a great idea when you are creating a set of cards!

First off, begin by cutting a card base to 4.25 x 8.5 for each card and fold it in half. Cut a panel of watercolor paper to 3.25 x 3.25. To add the color, you're going to use what I refer to as the "Smooshing" technique.

Distress Ink Smooshing Background

For this technique take a piece of acetate or a craft mat and "smoosh" a Distress Ink pad onto it. Spritz the ink with water and then either rub the acetate together a little to mix the ink and water together or use the tip of your finger to mix them. Once the ink and water are mixed, either "smoosh" it onto your paper or smoosh your paper onto the craft mat. To get more splotches and specks of ink, use a heat tool to dry it in between each smoosh. Repeat the entire process until you achieve the desired look. Cut a piece of patterned paper to 1.5 x 3.75 that coordinates with the color of ink you used. Adhere this to the card base using Memory Tape Runner XL. Use the iCraft Easy-Tear Tape to attach the watercolor panel to the card front. This adhesive is perfect for adhering heavier weight papers such as watercolor paper. It also eliminates any warping that might occur to the paper during the smooshing process. Stamp the various dog images onto white cardstock and cut them out. Color them as desired. I used colored pencils and blended them with gamsol and a blending stump. Use scraps of chipboard to give the images a little bit of dimension without adding a lot of bulk. Again, the Easy-Tear Tape is perfect for attaching the chipboard to cardstock and/or watercolor paper. Finally, die cut your sentiments with a banner shape. Tie a small length of jute around them and adhere them to the card using the same technique used to adhere the dogs.
