I have been crafty as long as I can remember, but about 10 years ago I taught myself to sew and I have never looked back! I absolutely adore working with fabric and throwing projects on the sewing machine!! Thanks for letting me share this patriotic bunting wreath with you so let's get started!

DIY Patriotic Bunting Wreath

For the start of this project I had to use my best secret agent skills to sneak into the garage and acquire a pool noodle while my kids weren't looking! I used duct tape to make the noodle into a circle wreath shape. Then I grabbed some burlap ribbon that had been in my stash for longer than I care to admit and wrapped the noodle, I used pins to secure the ribbon into the noodle. The last step with the ribbon was to fashion a bow for the top of the wreath out of the same ribbon. That is the down and dirty on the wreath and ribbon now let's get to the fun stuff shall we? I made two separate bunting strings, one with fabric and one with foil. Here are the supplies you will need for the buntings: Project Supplies: Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive Red, Silver, and Blue Deco Foil Transfer Sheets Heat n Bond® Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing Red, White, and Blue fabric. You can use scraps as long as they measure about 4"x5". Bunting Template Wreath (I am using the pool noodle one I made ^^^ but you could use any wreath.) Project Instructions: First lets start with the USA foiled bunting. You will want to print off the bunting template from above. Pick the size you want to use based on your wreath. This is a personal preference, I will wait..... Cut the template out and trace it onto the paper side of the hot melt adhesive. Trace it onto the Heat n Bond® fusible interfacing as well. You will want 3 of both the adhesive and the interfacing. Now place the shiny side of the interfacing right side together with the rough side of the hot melt adhesive. Use a piece of pressing paper and iron them together. Do this for all three pieces. Then peel the paper off of the hot melt adhesive. Cut a piece of red, silver, and blue foil that is just slightly larger than the interfacing/adhesive pieces. To attach the foil I like to use a divider (card stock thickness) on either side. Then run it through the laminator. You could also use a piece of pressing paper and iron it but I have much better results with the laminator. ***TIP if you pull it out of the laminator and MOVE NOTHING and TOUCH NOTHING you can run it through one more time for the best results! If you move anything and the foil itself is exposed to heat it will not go well so be careful! Peel the plastic off and you are left with your three pieces for the USA bunting. I simply embroidered the letters U, S, and A onto the bunting and then added string and hung it on the wreath! Pretty simple really! For the fabric bunting you will want to cut several pieces of each color into pieces that measure 4" by 5". Fold each piece in half and cut a few inches up, making sure not to cut all the way through. You should be left with something like this: Now roll this piece until you have something that resembles a yummy piece of Christmas candy! Fold this in half. Make a bunch in each color!! The last step is to attach them all together with another string. I sewed around each one (by hand) and then pulled it tight to make a little round top. Then attach this bunting to your wreath as well and you are all done! Thank you so much for letting me share this tutorial with you! It was fun to make!
