Friendship Card with Brutus Monroe and Deco Foil

“Hello” designer Heather Collins enjoys meeting up with friends old and new. With the holiday season upon us, I get to see friends who only are able to come into town this time of the year. Today I got to go to lunch a high school girlfriend from 25+ years ago. I am from the time period that when I went to college, some of my friends and I still exchanged what is called ‘snail mail’ letters. This was one of those types of friends. We even exchanged photos or flyers that we picked up here and there. So I wanted to create a card in memory of such an exchange. To start this project I took I took a sheet of the Brutus Monroe Clear Toner Sheets - Marble and laid on top of it Deco Foil Transfer Sheets Teal. Next, I placed this combination between a folded piece of computer paper and ran it through the Minc. I usually run it through twice on setting level 4. The Brutus Monroe Toner Sheet sets come with two clear sheets and two white. I love having these options. The clear one was perfect so that when I layered it on top of some Brutus Monroe Glitterstock - Sliver, the Clear Toner Sheet gave a cloudy blue sky look. I cut both the Glitterstock and the Toner Sheet with my largest Foundation Die - Postage Stamp I had. I attached both pieces using the Ultra Bond Adhesive on top of a card panel that I cut down to 4.25” square. After trimming off the edging of the clear toner sheet it really has that postage stamp feel. Using my Misti, I stamped out my Brutus Monroe City Sidewalk - Pittsburgh stamp with my Brutus Monroe Sticky Glue Pad. Then, using an ultrafine brush dipped into my Brutus Monroe Powdered Elements- Sterling, I dusted the glue skyline silver and wiped off any extra with my Brutus Monroe Microfiber cloth. Brutus Monroe Fussy Cutting scissors made cutting out my ‘snowglobe’ quick work. With my Big Shot, I also cut out the Brutus Monroe Glitterstock - Hello die. When cutting out any dies, I always use the iCraft Purple Tape. This ensures that my dies won’t shift midway through die cutting. Especially with the Clear Toner Sheets, I will flip them over for a few extra passes in the machine. The snowglobe image was attached to the card using some iCraft 3D foam squares. ‘Hello’ and my star charm were both attached with the iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesives. This glue really holds and dried clear, relatively quickly. To finish my card I placed a few pre-glued gems, so that the card had a starry night sky to it. This project was fairly easy and quick to put together. I am hoping that my girlfriend enjoys it and reminds her of back home in Pittsburgh, PA even though now she lives states away.
