If you are like me, I am getting a bit of the Spring Fever. Hi again, it is Amy from Sew Incredibly Crazy to show you how to add a little fabric flare to a premade canvas.
Canvas art can be so expensive, so I thought I would make my own. "Spring" pretty much says it all for me right now. I am totally looking forward to all the flowers that are slowly peaking through the ground.
I bought a premade canvas at the local craft store. They now have a variety of different ones that would work great for this, such as burlap or linen. I choose to work with linen.
Here is what you will need.
A premade canvas - make sure the top is
Fabric squares, I used 5 different Charm square prints
A saying or word that you have printed out
An Iron
I also added embroidery and button to the bottom of the canvas, this is optional.
First, you need to reverse your word, I just hold the printed version up to a window and trace around the word. You could use a light box as well.
After finished reversing your word, trace you letters on to your HeatnBond® Ultrahold . After tracing you letters, cut them apart and iron them on to your fabric.
I chose for each letter to be a different fabric.
After they have cooled, cut around each of the letters.
Remove the paper backing from the letters and arrange on your canvas.
Cover your letters with a pressing sheet before you iron them in place. If the canvas is treated with anything, you do not want it to get on to your iron.
Iron in place.
I added embroidery to the bottom, by drawing it free-hand on the canvas with a pencil. Draw lightly if you are planning on doing the same. Add a few fun buttons and you have your own canvas art at a fraction of the cost.
Place on your favorite shelf or wall and enjoy!
