In my neck of the woods, the weather is quite chilly. It has been below freezing for the last few days, which has made for the perfect opportunity to make a cute penguin mini quilt to make me feel warm on the inside.

Supplies: Heat n Bond® Lite EZ Print sheets or Heat n Bond® Lite Penguin, snowflake and word pattern, download HERE 3/4 yard Black fabric for front and back of mini Fabric penguin, snowflakes, trim, and words (fats quarter will do) 22" piece of Sew-In High Loft Fleece Interfacing Coordinating Thread Iron

It's Cold Outside Penguin Mini Instructions:

Start by creating your mini background. Cut one piece of background fabric (black) to 16 1/2" square. For side plaid, cut 36 - 2 1/2" squares (red plaid and snowflake white). Sew the 2 1/2" squares in 2 strips of 8 and 2 strips of 10, alternating the colors. Sew the 2 strips of 8 blocks on the opposite sides, iron towards the strips. Repeat with the 2 strips of 10 blocks. Next, print out your pattern sheet. You can use the HeatnBond® EZ Print sheets for the snow flakes and words. You will need to use Heat n Bond® Lite for the penguin body. Use according to the manufacturers instructions. Heat set the shapes to the wrong side of the desired fabric. Cut the shapes along the lines. Peel off the backing. Heat set the shapes with your iron. Make a quilt sandwich. With coordinating thread, sew or applique stitch around your shapes. This is what you can do with your snowflake, machine stich on the snowflake. Then as an option, take 12 wt. Aurifil thread and hand stitch around them for an added touch. Bind and your mini is complete. Little Penguin makes this cold weather a little more bearable. Don't you agree?
