Buzzing with Sunshine Summer Card & Gift Box

by Ellen Haxelmanns on July 16, 2026

Hello crafty friends! It’s Ellen here taking over the Therm O Web blog. There’s something so cheerful about sunshine, flowers, and adorable bees—they instantly make me think of summer! For today’s project, I created a matching card and little gift box filled with bright yellow tones, sparkling foiled backgrounds, and the cutest little bee.

The real star of these projects is the gorgeous foiled background, and I love how easy it is to create with the “Mixables, Really Radiant” collection!

One of my favorite things about the “Mixables, Really Radiant”  collection is having both a full card front and a smaller toner sheet in the same beautiful design. The small background creates a stunning focal point for your card, while the bigger sheet is perfect for coordinating gift boxes, envelopes, or other items that need more paper. It makes creating matching projects so easy!

To add the shine, I paired two beautiful foils:

Simply place the foil colored side facing up on top of your toner design, sandwich it inside a carrier sheet, and run it through your laminator or the Gina K. Designs Fuse Foiling System Laminator. Once it cools, gently peel away the foil to reveal the gorgeous foiled pattern.

The combination of the design in the foils like the stars (or shattered glass) finish with the rich gold creates incredible sparkle and dimension!

The sweet bees were die cut from Plush Papers to give them a soft, velvety look.

I used:

Plush Papers cut beautifully with intricate dies, and the soft flocked texture instantly adds warmth and dimension to your die cuts.

I love mixing the luxurious feel of Plush Papers with shiny foiled backgrounds for extra contrast.

To assemble the little gift box, I like using a combination of adhesives depending on the material.

  • Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive is perfect for attaching the paper layers because it gives you a little wiggle room before setting.
  • To assemble the box, the iCraft SuperTape Adhesiveprovides an instant, strong hold without any drying time.
  • The layered details, like the flowers and sentiment or a big shape are easy to secure withFoam Tapefor a clean, mess-free finish.

Using different adhesives for different elements helps everything stay securely in place while making assembly quick and easy.

I hope this bright summer card and box inspires you for your next project.

Happy crafting!
