For the next step I applied Brutus Monroe Glitter Glazen Fallen Snow with a spatula using the Brutus Monroe Mixed Media Stencil Snowflake. Then I put the piece aside and let dry. I try to let my pieces dry without using a heat tool as much as I can. As great as heat tools can be, some finishes just don’t seem to look natural when forced.
Brutus Monroe and Therm O Web have this AMAZING new line of products! Using a paper trimmer, I cut iCraft Deco Foil PeelnStickToner sheets in half. Then, with my Minc, I layered in a folded piece of copy paper, half toner sheet and one piece of the Brutus Monroe Transfer Sheets Silver Sketch. Using a Big Shot, I die cut out a bunch of snowflakes.
Next, I embossed Brutus Monroe Snowflake chip pieces with Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink and Brutus Monroe Alabaster Embossing Powder. I did this twice so that the chip pieces looked like they had been enameled.
Gently, I put some Brutus Monroe Metallic Aqua Pigment- Delphinium, Yellow-Green and Sterling and sprayed with a water bottle. Tilt the piece around to move the pigments. Use a water brush and paper towels to spread out so that the snowflake has light and dark areas. When I am happy with how it looks, I do use a heat gun briefly so that I can make sure everything is dry.
Then, with all of my goodies on a media mat, I can start assembling. I like to assemble my piece all at once. I find that this allows me to have lots of options since I tend to make more pieces than I need, but I never worry since I can just use them on another day.
Using Therm O Web's wide array of adhesives I attached all of my components. The Mixed Media Adhesive works well for the chunky pieces and some of the heavier ribbons and laces. I found that the new ¼” tear tape and foam tape allowed me to have a layered look.
The 3d Zots were great for some of the snowflakes that I wanted to have pop. Otherwise, I just took the backer off the foiled pieces I made earlier. Lastly, I put some crushed glitter glass and glitter to complete the piece. This is a perfect piece to remind me of those snowy memories.
