Hello my sewing friends! This is Dori @redfeedsack again and I have one big question…how did October get here so quickly? I wasn’t quite ready to drag out any holiday decor yet but one of my favorite, quick and easy ways to start off the change of each season is with a seasonal fabric window bunting. They are just so quick to make and so satisfying that I decided it was time to share a tutorial with you so you can make one too! I’m not exactly sure what it is, but there is something about a little flag bunting in a window that makes me smile!

You need very few supplies and you certainly don’t need to go buy any special fabric because this is one of those things that can be made with scraps! As long as they are 3.5” x 4” for each of the little flags then you are good to go. You can mix up colors like I did. I wanted some red and some turquoise because those colors are so pretty with gold! But you can choose any colors you’d like. You could even make them all the same print, and it would still be perfect!

I’ve sewn a lot of these little buntings and sometimes I still struggle with getting the little flags to stay in the fold of the binding while I sew them. But the very best trick I’ve ever found was using HeatnBond Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive. Just a few little drops on each flag and a quick press of the iron on the binding will hold them in place perfectly for sewing. I step you through that in my tutorial, but having the Fabric Fuse Adhesive is a must for this project!
I love a colorful bunting hung in a window. I happen to have a few of them in other rooms of my house and I change them consistently. They really are the simplest project that gives so much satisfaction.
I also love to make a few and bag them up for gifts. They make such “just for fun” gifts and I’ve yet to find a time when a bunting isn’t loved by the recipient! I met a friend for coffee today and was able to take her a little wrapped up bunting. I love how happy it made her!
So gather your supplies and make a bunting!! It will make you happy too! Thanks for following along! When you make your bunting, be sure to tag me @redfeedsack so I can see it!
