Bright & Cheerful Spring Cards with Foiling

by Ellen Haxelmanns on March 18, 2026

Hello crafty friends!

Today I, Ellen, like sharing a set of bright and cheerful spring cards featuring lots of foiling and dimension. I love how foil instantly adds shine and interest to a card, and combining different foils and patterns makes the backgrounds really come to life!

For these cards I created three different spring scenes and used several Therm O Web and Gina K. Designs foiling products to build colorful, layered backgrounds.

Step 1 – Adding the Foiling Gel

To begin, I applied Fuse Foiling Gel through a stencil onto my card panels. I used a Deco Foil Stencil Pal to spread a thin, even layer across the stencil openings.

Once the gel was applied, I carefully removed the stencil and set the panels aside to dry completely. When the panels are dry, the gel is clear and it leaves a slightly raised surface that will grab the foil beautifully.

ps. Clean the stencils immediately, I use an old toothbrush and warm water.

Step 2 – Foiling the Backgrounds

After the gel dried, it was time for the fun part—foiling!

I placed different Deco Foil Transfer Sheets over the gel areas and ran the panels through my laminator.

For these backgrounds I used:

Each foil created a gorgeous a matte but still shiny background that already felt very spring-like and vibrant.

Step 3 – Adding Pattern with Poly-Glaze Foiling Sheets

To add even more detail and texture, I used Gina K. Designs Poly-Glaze Foiling Sheets – Tiny Dots. These sheets add a subtle dotted pattern that looks amazing when foiled.

I applied three different foils over the Tiny Dots sheets:

The combination of colors and the dotted pattern gives the words a playful, lively look that works perfectly with spring-themed cards.

Step 4 – Building the Spring Scenes

Once the backgrounds were finished, I created my little spring scenes with layered die cuts. I added lots of elements to bring the card to life. On this lavender card you can see flowers and a cute hen with her chick. To add everything on my card I used:

Foiling is such a fun way to add shine and texture to your cards. By combining Fuse Foiling Gel, Deco Foil Transfer Sheets, and Poly-Glaze Foiling Sheets, you can easily create unique backgrounds full of color and interest.

I love how these three cards turned out—bright, happy, and perfect for celebrating spring!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope this inspires you to play with foils and create your own sparkling spring projects.

Happy crafting!
