Bee Happy Spring Pillow Sew A Long

Hi there, Amy from Sew Incredibly Crazy here to show you one way that you are able to use those Spring Sew Along blocks. When you join a sew along, if you are like me you might get all of the blocks finished, or you might just get one completed. Here is a quick way to use one of those 10 1/2" blocks in a quilting project.

  Supplies Needed: For this project, I used the Busy Bee block. The pattern for it can be found here. High Loft Fusible Fleece Oliso Iron HeatnBond Lite 1/2 yard Fabric for the pillow back and front 2 Fat Quarters for the front of the pillow (1 for borders and 1 for letters) 2 1/4 yards of pom pom trim BEE HAPPY letter pattern

Step 1: Cut 1 strip 2 1/2" x 10 1/2" and 1 strip 2 1/2" x 12 1/2". Sew to the two sides of the block, like shown below. Step 2: Cut 1 fabric strip 6 1/2" x 13" and 6 1/2" x 19". Step 3: Prepare to applique the BEE HAPPY to these strips. Trace the letters onto the HeatnBond Lite. The pattern has been reversed for you. Cut around approximately 1/4" from the pattern that was traced on the fusible. Iron the letters onto the coordinating fat quarter. Cut out the letters on the line. Iron the letters on to the fabric strips. The BEE iron onto the 6 1/2" x 13" piece. The HAPPY irons onto the 6 1/2" x 19" piece. Step 4: Stitch around the letters using an applique stitch or a favorite stitch of choice. Step 5: Sew the BEE to the right side of the Bee block made previously. Next, sew the HAPPY block below the Bee block as shown in the picture below. Step 6: Iron a piece of HeatnBond Fusible Fleece to the back of the pillow. Quilt as desired. Step 7: Baste stitch the pom pom trim around the edge. Step 8: Finish pillow with a zipper or an envelope back.
